The spa town of Bad Kissingen with around 22,000 inhabitants is located on the southern edge of the Rhön in beautiful Lower Franconia. The unique spa facilities are not far from the Hotel Saxonia. Bad Kissingen enchants thousands of spa and health holidaymakers every year with its special ambience. Nature lovers will be enchanted by the spa gardens, the rose garden with around 130 varieties of roses and the extensive Luitpold Park. Striking buildings in the spa complex include the arcade building, the Regentenbau and the Wandelhalle. These buildings characterise the image of the sophisticated spa resort. The famous Rakoczy spring and the Pandur fountain are located in the Brunnenhalle, part of the Wandelhalle. Here, the fountain women pour four of the seven Bad Kissingen healing waters, for which Bad Kissingen is famous, several times a day. Admission to the spa concerts of the Staatliche Kurphilharmonie Kissingen (spa orchestra), which take place several times a day almost every day except Mondays and Tuesdays, is already included in the spa tax. The orchestra delights all guests and with a record of 727 performances per year, the Bad Kissingen spa orchestra has been recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the most-performed ensemble in the world in one year. Since July 2021, the spa town of Bad Kissingen, together with 10 other spa towns in Europe, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site as the "Great Spas of Europe".
