A hearty Welcome in our Mosel Hotel Zum Anker in Traben-Trarbach!

Since the time of the Romans the Mosel River has been used as a means of transporting people and goods. Teams of strong horses would haul (Treidel-schleppen) the specially designed barges (Treidelschiffe) along the river to their destinations. The horse handlers where known as "Mosel-Halfen" During the passage between Trier and Koblenz, they would pass rows of small taverns.

One of such taverns was the "Anker" which had a well known reputation up and down the Mosel. Today our hotel offers ten comfortable double rooms, all having their own WC, shower and flat screen television. Six rooms provide you with a wonderful panoramic view of the Mosel River, Trarbach, vineyards and "Grevenburg", four of which have large balconies opening up onto the Mosel River.

There is place for up to thirty people in our homely restaurant. RestaurantCome and relax in the genial atmosphere while indulging in the house specialities or local cuisine. Enjoy a crisp glass of Mosel wine with your meal as the Romans have done two thousand years ago from wines cultivated on the vineyards clinging to the banks of the Mosel valley.

The well frequented terrace speaks for itself! It is a wonderful place to sit and relax while taking in the panoramic view of the Mosel River, Trarbach, vineyards and "Grevenburg". Watch the comings and goings of riverboat traffic whilst enjoying a cold beer, refreshing wine or a beverage of your choice.

After an exuberant walk, cycle or boat tour, come on and into our Ankerklause and meet the local "Moselaner". Our rustical Bar and Bistro is situated on the left bank of the Mosel River promenade. Here you will discover small "Anker" specialties, for example the renowned "Anker burger" and another reasonably priced Bistro fare. Enjoy a draught beer or other beverage of your choice.
