The Locanda Toscanini in Southern Chianti (Tuscany) is the recently renovated boutique hotel, where the famous conductor Arturo Toscanini sojourned in the 1930s.

Now guests can stay in the nine rooms (with some original furnishings) where Toscanini and his entourage enjoyed the calm beauty and great food of rural Tuscany. The historic home and its former olive mill - now an events room and restaurant - is located in the rural village of Piazze, just

outside of charming medieval town of Cetona in the Siena (Tuscany) region. (click for map)

The Locanda has one suite and two different types of tastefully-decorated rooms - classic (smaller) or superior (larger), all furnished with antiques and original fresco-painted walls, and flat screen televisions. The rooms have air-conditioning and cable television (upon request).

On the third floor, the Toscanini Suite (the maestro's very own bedroom) has a small living area with a balcony overlooking lovely hills spotted with cypress trees and vineyards. There is a working fireplace and extra sleep sofa in the living area.

The Locanda has an events room for up to 50 people - ideal for small conferences receptions or family get-togethers - a living room and media room, as well as a small gym and massage room. It's the perfect spot for trevellers looking for simple elegance in a family-like atmosphere.

Located midway between Rome and Florence - less than two hours from the Rome and Florence airports and ten minutes from the Fabro and Chiusi exits on the A1 highway - the Locanda Toscanini is about five kilometers from the world famous thermal spas in San Casciano dei Bagni.
