Our hotel, the ‘Zu den Schildbürgern’, is located in the Dahlener Heide, a nature reserve between the cities of Leipzig (40 km) and Dresden (65 km).

The name of our hotel is reminiscent of the inhabitants of the nearby town of Schilda(u), who became famous through the ‘Book of the Simpleton’ published in the late Middle Ages.

The proverbial beauty of the Dahlener Heide extends around the cosy hotel, situated directly on the mill pond.

Our hotel has 16 rooms. All rooms are equipped with shower/WC, TV, radio alarm clock and direct-dial telephone. Some rooms also have a balcony. For our youngest guests, we provide a travel cot and a changing mat. Internet access is available on request for a fee.

Our rustically furnished restaurant with its stained glass windows invites you to enjoy culinary delights and to linger in comfort.

The magnificent stained glass windows of the restaurant depict some of the pranks of the ‘Schildbürger’ (fools). You are cordially invited to learn more about them. Let yourself be amused and entertained by their stories and pranks. We recommend our ‘Schildbürger dishes’ and the matching giant schnitzel.

Our restaurant also offers the perfect setting for your family celebrations - whether it's a birthday, wedding or anniversary. Beautiful table decorations and perfect service will make your celebration an unforgettable experience. We will cater to your every need and are committed to hosting you and your guests. Incidentally, this also applies to our youngest guests!

Families with children are also in good hands at our hotel. The playground behind the house offers our younger guests plenty of space to play and run around, while their parents can relax and enjoy themselves in the guest garden.

Hikes, walks and horse-drawn carriage rides round off the leisure activities on offer. You are also welcome to use our hotel garden with its large lawn for relaxation.
