The Isle of Rügen is in itself a small world full of contrast: the vastness of the Baltic Sea meets the quiet bays and recesses of the island’s coast, jagged chalk rocks tower up right beside stretches of white sandy beaches, endless woods are equally characteristic of the landscape as areas of scanty heath or extensive fields and meadows.

In spring of 1999, yet another attraction was opened on the peninsula called Mönchgut, the south-eastern part of the Isle of Rügen: the Hotel "SOLTHUS am See" in Baabe. Under its thatched roof, this four-star hotel offers a unique combination of cozy and stylish atmosphere, excellent cuisine, a spacious wellness area and highly personalized service.

The hotel "SOLTHUS am See" consists of 39 rooms and suites, a restaurant furnished in an extraordinary Scandinavian style, a wood-panelled library with fireplace and a wellness area that will hardly leave a wish unfulfilled.

All rooms are equipped with a balcony or terrace, allowing magnificent views of the adjacent reed and heath landscape, the nearby sailing port and the "Greifswalder Bodden”, widening into the Baltic Sea.

Bath tub or shower, WC, hair dryer, bathrobe, satellite TV, radio, direct dial telephone and minibar all stand for an atmosphere of cozyness and comfort.

The extraordinary Scandinavian-style furnishing of our restaurant forms the setting for a sophisticated cuisine that is light yet full of flavours, but never too rich, and dedicated to international cuisine as well as to re-discovering or re-defining the treasures of regional culinary art.
