Since 1559 hotel Tilman Riemanschneider has hosted guests within its historic walls. In former times, it was a brewery and famous inn. Today it has all the facilities a modern traveler needs.

All 57 rooms feature bathroom, hair- dyer, cable TV and telephone. The furniture is hand painted in antique style to complete the charm. The romantic honeymoon rooms with four-poster beds are something to remember. Our fitness center provides sauna, whirlpool and exercise machines. Access to the hotel and parking garages is available 24 hours a day.

The world famous medieval master wood carver Tilman Riemanschneider crafted numerous alters along the Romantic Road. Examples are found in St. Jakob's church in Rothenburg and St. Peter and Paul's church in the nearby village of Detwang. The gigantic alter in the gothic Herrgottskirche (Lord's Church) near the town of Creglingen is his greatest creation.

Riemenschneider lived in Würzburg for most of his life and served as its mayor for several years. He supported the peasants rebellion of 1525 and was imprisoned after their total defeat. He died in 1531 shortly after his release. Largely forgotten until 1822 when a worker unearthed his gravestone in the old cemetery of St. Kilian's Cathedral in Würzburg. His masterful works are now properly credited.
