In our hotel "Zum Forsthaus" in Altenau in the Oberharz, hospitality has been our great concern for over 48 years!

The quiet, yet central location (10 minutes walk to the centre) makes it the ideal destination for anyone looking for relaxation. Directly from the hotel you can set off on the most beautiful hikes and mountain bike trails in the Harz. Hikers on the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg also find accommodation with us for one night. All rooms in this category are equipped with a specialist screen TV. Partly with comfort upholstered beds with motor slatted frame and reversible mattresses, with one hard and one medium side. Shower and WC in all rooms, separated from each other.

Two holiday flats with large balcony
Feel at home during your holiday in the Harz mountains. The two comfortably furnished holiday flats in the Hotel Zum Forsthaus will become your new home in the Upper Harz. The non-smoking flats are classified with 3 stars (according to DTV German Tourism Association) and comfortably furnished. The 45 square metre flats each have a bedroom and living room, kitchenette or kitchen, shower, WC and balcony. Bed linen and towels are of course provided.

Active holiday in the Upper Harz: Harzer Hexenstieg, DSV Nordic Walking routes, Mountainbike Arena Harz, winter sports opportunities and much more are directly accessible from our hotel. The skiing area with practice slope "Skiwiese Rose" is directly in front of our door, the entrance to the cross-country skiing track "Rose" is only 20 m away.

The thermal spa "Heißer Brocken" can be reached on foot within 8 minutes, as well as the Sperberhaier Dammgraben, part of the Harzer Hexenstieg, which belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Oberharzer Wasserwirtschaft. Altenau in the Oberharz, situated in the middle of the magical mountain world, offers a rich variety of sights and excursion destinations in the surrounding area.
