Welcome to the Hotel Waldhaus Wittgenthal in Breitungen!

Our family-run Waldhaus Wittgenthal was built in 1920 as an excursion restaurant with a lodging licence and has now been expanded to a capacity of 27 rooms of modern standards. The original character and charm of the house has been preserved. Our hotel has 24 double rooms and 3 single rooms. Extra beds are possible in 8 rooms. All rooms are equipped with shower/WC.

The Waldhaus Wittgenthal has been very popular with our excursion guests since its early years. With a total of 170 seats in 4 guest rooms, cosy rooms are available for family celebrations, company parties, travel groups or training courses. In summer, there are also two outdoor terraces for you to linger on.

As a participant in the Thuringian Rhön catering project of the "Rhöner Genusstour", the regional Rhön working group, we focus on regionally produced, controlled products and predominantly traditional Rhön cuisine. Under the motto "slow food" for slow, particularly enjoyable eating, all our dishes are freshly and extremely carefully prepared. We use fresh beef, pork and lamb as well as fish from the Rhön biosphere reserve and game from local hunts to create house specialities. We have been awarded the quality seal by the Rhön umbrella organisation and have also been certified with three silver thistles. A distinction for special quality from the Rhön.

We provide catering for travel and hiking groups, catering for family, company and club celebrations as well as the delivery of cold or warm buffets outside the home. From rustic to festive - exactly according to your wishes! We will be happy to advise you! Separate rooms are available for conferences, seminars and training courses. We take care of all the necessary preparations. So all you need to do is concentrate on your event for complete success! Our bowling alley is a modern, fully automatic facility with 2 plastic lanes. The separate guest room has a seating capacity of approx. 60, its own bar and sanitary facilities. A dart machine is also available for amusing entertainment

The central location and favourable links to the motorway network make excursions easy. Whether visiting the town of Breitungen, first mentioned in 933, with its basilica and castle or the nearby towns of Schmalkalden, Eisenach and Meiningen with a variety of exhibitions, museums, concerts and events. The local recreation area "am Kiessee" attracts with leisure fun for the whole family. On the treetop path, you can "climb to the top of the jungle". The Merkers adventure mine is also always worth a visit! The Waldhaus Wittgenthal is a popular destination for motorcyclists. The experience of the wonderfully winding roads in the Rhön and the Thuringian Forest as well as many attractive destinations offers pure motorbike pleasure, from choppers and cruisers to tourers and sports riders! We are happy to help you plan your tour. Various motorbike clubs like to come to our house for trips lasting several days.
