Welcome to the Landhotel Gernert in St. Martin

The Landhotel Gernert in the heart of the Palatinate, between vineyards and hiking trails, impresses with its southern flair, comfort, cosiness and individuality.

As soon as you have passed our reception, your holiday in the recognised wine and climatic health resort of St. Martin begins. The rooms radiate cosiness and offer the right ambience for rest and relaxation. All rooms are equipped with WC/shower or bath, hairdryer, safe, telephone, radio/TV and minibar with an extra supply of red wine. Most rooms have a balcony or terrace. There is a sunbathing lawn on our sunny plateau and car parking spaces are right next to the house.

After breakfast you can start your sunny day in the middle of the vineyards. Whether hiking or sightseeing, with us you can experience nature up close. Back from your excursion, you can enjoy a little wine tasting in our tasting room or pour yourself a glass of wine in your room, sit back and relax.

The barrique vault - Restaurant Gernert

Let our head chef Dietmar Puscha spoil you with culinary delights. Fresh products from the region, prepared with great craftsmanship and attention to detail. The dishes are accompanied by selected wines from the Thomas Gernert winery. Our friendly service team, led by Sabrina Zilles, would like to offer you enjoyable and relaxing hours in the atmospheric vaulted cellar. As part of the manor house of the Gernert winery built in the 18th century, the cellar was constructed as a barrique vault using stones from the Kropsburg castle. As the name suggests, the estate's finest wines were traditionally stored here in special oak barrels. The special thing about this is that the barrels are only used a few times, once or twice depending on the variety. During storage, the wine loses its tannic acid and takes on the typical flavours of the surrounding oak barrel, which are so appreciated by connoisseurs.

The winery was built in 1851 from the ruins of Kropsburg Castle and purchased by Angela Gernert's father in 1934. In 1958, Norbert Gernert took over the winery and changed the focus of the business from cask wine to bottled wine and direct marketing. Thomas Gernert is now the winemaker at Weingut Gernert and uses the long winemaking tradition to try out exciting creations and experiments. With unbridled drive and passion, he offers a clearly structured range for each of his customers. From country wines for everyday enjoyment to selection wines in barriques, top wines are consistently produced here and marketed by himself.
