Welcome to the Hotel Sonneninsel on Fehmarn

The Hotel Sonneninsel Fehmarn is easy to reach from the Vogelfluglinie, the B 207 (E 47). Avendorf is the next village and only 800 m away from the 1st exit on Fehmarn. In about 1 to 2.5 km you can reach the nearest beaches at Fehmarn-Sund and the holiday park Wulfener Hals with the golf park Fehmarn. The island "metropolis" Burg auf Fehmarn with its idyllic old town flair, the fishing harbour Burgstaaken and the many restaurants can also be reached quickly. It is only five minutes from the Hotel Sonneninsel Fehmarn to the popular surf spots and kite spots on the island of Fehmarn, the Orther Reede and the Burger Binnensee at Wulfener Hals.

The district of Avendorf belongs to the former "Süderort" area of the island of Fehmarn. The southern part of the former municipality of Landkirchen. Until about 60 years ago, Avendorf had its own school for this area, which was built at the end of the 19th century. It later became the "Hotel - Restaurant Grüner Jäger" with various extensions. In the meantime, it has been renovated from the ground up and with a new owner, it has become the "Hotel Sonneninsel Fehmarn". The owners, the families Volker Riechey and Malte Riechey, are now running a country hotel again in the 3rd and 4th generation.

All rooms of the Hotel Sonneninsel Fehmarn are equipped with a kitchenette (fridge, 2 ceramic hobs, coffee machine, kettle, microwave and crockery) so that you can be self-sufficient. All rooms have a colour TV with flat screen and satellite reception and shower with WC. Some rooms on the south-west side of the ground floor wing have a small terrace with garden furniture. Pets are only allowed in a few rooms.

The rooms in the "Comfort" category with kitchenette are decorated in pleasant colours and combine a homely ambience with the practicality of a flat hotel. They have a kitchen with ceramic hob, fridge, sink and are equipped with pots, crockery, cutlery, coffee maker, kettle and microwave. Some rooms can also be occupied by pets.

On a holiday at the Baltic Sea it is the No. 1 topic: the beach. On Fehmarn there are plenty of wonderful sandy and natural beaches right on your doorstep. The often shallowly sloping coastal strips provide unadulterated bathing fun even for the smallest guests. At the nearby Wulfener Hals, which you can use as a guest at Hotel Sonneninsel, children and the young at heart will find their action beach, and those seeking peace and quiet will find an almost deserted coastal idyll on the natural beach of the steep coast. If you like, your "own" sun lounger is ready for you on the beach. Take time out, read a good book in peace, watch the clouds play in the sky, dream dreams, let yourself be caressed by the sun's rays and enjoy some leisure time for yourself. Treat yourself to these beach times by the sea, there is nothing better for sun worshippers.

An island where families have fun. Between Fehmarnsund Bridge and Puttgarden, you can experience something new on the island every day. The Fehmare adventure pool in Burgtiefe invites you to enjoy swimming regardless of the wind and weather. Germany's largest tropical marine aquarium awaits you to marvel at thousands of exotic fish and sharks in the giant pool. Whether you want to admire historical artefacts in the local history museum in Burg or find the technology of a real navy submarine more interesting, Fehmarn offers something for every guest. Young and old are welcome to the large indoor adventure exhibition "Galileo". A very special hands-on museum where you can literally experience and understand natural history.
