Thiesi
Farm
The estate has a very old tradition. To reach the farm you have to follow a winding road up to one side of a limestone hill, from the top of which you will be able to admire the vast scenery of the secular woods surrounding the estate.
In the very heart of the estate there is an old but well preserved Romanesque church dated to the early 13th century. The small church overlooks the valley below and is surrounded by the remains of ancient “cumbessias” and a cemetery. The local legend has it that the cemetery belonged to an old monastery or a village in the area. It is certainly true that there is an old church and human bones buried under its garden.
Behind the church there is the old master’s country house, Su Palattu. On one side of its vast courtyard there are the old stables with overlapping arches, on the other one there is the old shepherd’s house. Inside the shepherd’s house there are still on oven without draught, used to make smoked cheese, and a device used to rotate the milk pot on the fire
. Overlooking the courtyard (called Su acchile) there are the more recent buildings of our Agriturismo. Just a few yards from the farmhouse there is an ancient nuraghe, still partially buried in the ground.
