We want you to feel at home right from the start! At Hotel Backmulde, you will stay in an excellent location in the historic centre of Heidelberg.
The hotel is located in a very quiet side street. The 27 rooms are individually and comfortably furnished, all rooms are equipped with a shower or bathtub and WC and have cable TV (no Sky) and telephone as well as a Wi-Fi connection.
You are very welcome! When you go out, you want to eat something you don't get every day. Sophisticated dishes, perfectly prepared by hand, made from high-quality ingredients and with that certain something. Unobtrusive, but lovingly served.
The Gasthaus Hotel Backmulde is a living Heidelberg tradition in the centre of Heidelberg's old town. According to tradition, the rooms of the Gasthaus Backmulde were already home to the ‘Schwarze Schiff’ (Black Ship), a former boatmen's hostel, in the 17th century. But history is not just a backdrop – history is also a commitment. Today, the Backmulde stands for genuine guest culture and sophisticated cuisine with a wow factor.
Your host and cooking class instructor is Alex Schneider. During his training and travelling years as a chef, he worked in many renowned restaurants, including the Stahlbad in Baden-Baden, Schloss Neuweier, Löwen in Oberstaufen (1 Michelin star), the Orangerie at the Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden (5-star hotel), Restaurant Aubergine in Munich (3 Michelin stars), Alpenhof Murnau Relais & Châteaux, Freihof in Wiesloch and the Four Ways Inn in Bermuda, until he started his own business in 1993 with the Backmulde restaurant in Heidelberg.
