Welcome to the Hotel Landgasthof Kreuz in Mattenhaus.

Our Landgasthof Kreuz, in Mattenhaus near Bad Waldsee, is one of those restaurants that are becoming increasingly rare these days. We don't obsessively emulate gourmet cuisine, but simply cook down-to-earth, fresh food. Fresh herbs and edible flowers, most of which come from our own herb garden, give the dishes a special touch.

The Hotel Kreuz has 21 cosy, mostly completely renovated hotel rooms. The modern facilities include free WLAN, SKY TV on flat screens, barrier-free showers, solid wood furniture, loden fabrics and large-format flower pictures. The day begins with a rich breakfast buffet, of course also with homemade jam! Companies and associations use the spacious hotel rooms for meetings and seminars.

Mattenhauser Zwiebelrostbraten, boiled meat from Allgäu pasture-raised beef, homemade spaetzle, lentils or Krautkrapfen still taste the same as they did in mother's day. We offer a wide range of dishes for vegetarians and vegans, including gluten- and lactose-free options. Our dishes should be honest and fresh. Our menu offers traditional Swabian cuisine as well as dishes with an exotic touch. The weekly menu, which has a new herb focus every month, is particularly popular. The "herb of the month" always challenges the kitchen team anew and does not allow creativity to slacken.

Special dishes are prepared twice a year. In spring, the herbs of the house are used even more intensively in the kitchen. Under the motto "Mattenhauser Kräutertage" (Mattenhaus Herb Days), special dishes are prepared with herbs and blossoms for a whole week. In autumn, the "Speciality Weeks" are on the programme. Traditionally, typical dishes from Mexico and Brazil are prepared in the Landgasthof Kreuz during this time, both actions are the highlights in our culinary calendar. Are you planning a family or company celebration? Let our chef personally advise you on the menu. He will be happy to put together a special menu according to your preferences.

We are already a family business in the third generation. Horst Schmidt, owner and chef, is actively supported by his sisters Sandra and Marlies. The personal atmosphere, care, competence and love of the job can be felt throughout the house. The tradition of the house goes back to the 15th century. In 1473, the Landgasthof Kreuz was first mentioned in a document.

Our commitment to the preservation and sustainability of local agriculture is very important to us. Many local products find their way onto our plates. Whether vegetables, fruit or meat - the regional quality is processed in our kitchen in an honest way. That is why we are a LandZunge plus business from the very beginning.

Our house is located 2 km north of the spa town of Bad Waldsee, nestled in the beautiful landscape of Upper Swabia with a view of flower meadows and fields. The convenient location on the federal road 30 between Biberach and Ravensburg attracts not only excursionists and travellers. Business people also like to meet us for lunch. Two cosy dining rooms and a green, shady beer garden offer enough space for more than 150 guests. The Danube-Lake Constance cycle path, Jakobusweg and the Barockstrasse lead directly past the house.
